Moderna announced today that its next-generation mRNA vaccine candidate, mRNA-1283, demonstrated superior immune response in a Phase 3 clinical trial involving 12,500 participants across the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan. CEO Stephane Bancel said the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company expects to file for FDA approval by Q4 2025. Pfizer and BioNTech, which produce a competing vaccine, declined to comment. The trial was conducted in partnership with the National Institutes of Health under principal investigator Dr. Anthony Fauci.
