Documentation Synchronization Plan

Table of Contents

Overview

This document outlines the plan for maintaining consistent documentation across the Anya ecosystem, including strategies for keeping documentation up-to-date and synchronized across multiple repositories.

Documentation Structure

The Anya ecosystem maintains the following documentation structure:

docs/
├── api/                    # API documentation
│   ├── README.md           # API overview
│   ├── authentication.md   # Authentication guide
│   ├── examples/           # Code examples for API usage
│   ├── reference/          # API reference documentation
│   └── tutorials/          # API tutorials
├── architecture/           # System architecture documentation
│   ├── core.html           # Core architecture
│   └── hexagonal.md        # Hexagonal architecture implementation
├── bitcoin/                # Bitcoin-specific documentation
├── development/            # Development guides
├── guides/                 # User guides
├── integration/            # Integration guides
├── security/               # Security documentation
└── tutorials/              # Tutorial content

Key Documentation Files

The following documentation files must be maintained across all repositories:

File Purpose Update Frequency
README.md Project overview As needed
API.md API documentation With each API change
CONTRIBUTING.md Contribution guidelines Quarterly
SECURITY.md Security policies Quarterly
CHANGELOG.md Change history With each release
docs/INDEX.md Documentation index With doc changes
docs/standards/AI_LABELING.md AI labeling system As needed

Synchronization Strategy

1. Git-Based Approach

  1. Use Git Submodules for Shared Documentation:
# Add the documentation repository as a submodule
git submodule add https://github.com/anya-org/anya-docs.git docs/shared

# Update submodule to latest version
git submodule update --remote docs/shared
  1. Use Symlinks for Repository-Specific Documentation:
# Create symlink from docs/shared/api to docs/api
ln -s ../shared/api docs/api

2. Automation Scripts

  1. Documentation Sync Script (scripts/sync_docs.ps1):

This PowerShell script synchronizes documentation across all Anya Core repositories:

# Usage:
./scripts/sync_docs.ps1 -SourceRepo "anya-core" -TargetRepos "anya-bitcoin,anya-web5"
  1. Documentation Validation Script (scripts/validate_docs.ps1):
# Usage:
./scripts/validate_docs.ps1 -ReportOnly

3. CI/CD Integration

  1. Documentation Build Pipeline:
# .github/workflows/docs.yml
name: Documentation

on:
  push:
    branches: [ main, develop ]
    paths:
      - 'docs/**'
      - '**.md'

jobs:
  build:
    runs-on: ubuntu-latest
    steps:
      - uses: actions/checkout@v3
      - name: Validate Documentation
        run: ./scripts/validate_docs.ps1
      - name: Build Documentation
        run: ./scripts/build_docs.ps1
  1. Automatic Synchronization Workflow:
# .github/workflows/sync-docs.yml
name: Sync Documentation

on:
  push:
    branches: [ main ]
    paths:
      - 'docs/**'
      - 'docs/standards/AI_LABELING.md'
      - 'README.md'
      - 'CONTRIBUTING.md'
      - 'SECURITY.md'
      - 'CHANGELOG.md'

jobs:
  sync:
    runs-on: ubuntu-latest
    if: github.repository == 'anya-org/anya-core'
    steps:
      - uses: actions/checkout@v3
        with:
          fetch-depth: 0
      - name: Sync Documentation
        run: ./scripts/sync_docs.ps1

Documentation Review Process

1. Review Workflow

  1. Documentation Changes:
  2. Create a documentation branch: git checkout -b docs/update-api
  3. Make documentation changes
  4. Submit a pull request for review

  5. Review Requirements:

  6. Technical accuracy
  7. Adherence to style guidelines
  8. Compliance with official Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs)
  9. Cross-reference validation

  10. Approval Process:

  11. At least one technical reviewer
  12. At least one documentation reviewer
  13. Automated validation must pass

2. Documentation Quality Metrics

Metric Target Tool
Broken links 0 markdown-link-check
Style violations 0 markdownlint
Spelling errors 0 cspell
API coverage 100% Custom script

Versioning Strategy

1. Version-Specific Documentation

Documentation is versioned alongside the software:

docs/
├── current/            # Current version documentation
├── next/               # Next release documentation
└── versions/           # Historical versions
    ├── v1.0/
    ├── v1.1/
    └── v2.0/

2. Version Switching

The documentation site includes a version selector that allows users to switch between different versions of the documentation.

3. Deprecated Features

Deprecated features are marked with a warning banner:

> ⚠️ **Deprecated**: This feature is deprecated in version 2.0 and will be removed in version 3.0.

Documentation Templates

1. API Endpoint Template

## Endpoint Name

**URL**: `/api/resource`

**Method**: `GET`

**Authentication**: Required

Brief description of what this endpoint does.

## Request Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |

| `param1`  | string | Yes | Description of param1 |
| `param2`  | number | No | Description of param2 |

## Response

```json
{
  "id": 123,
  "name": "Example"
}
Error Codes
### 2. Component Documentation Template
