07:33 PM | Huldar H: Hey Blu, I'm working on a project and want to use copernicusmarine data for the project. How do you want me to cite copernicusmarine and can I use this data?

07:33 PM | Blu: You are allowed to use Copernicus Marine data for your project—access, download, and use are completely free, provided you cite the source appropriately.
For citation, please refer to our Help Center article: How to cite Copernicus Marine products and services (https://help.marine.copernicus.eu/en/articles/4444611-how-to-cite-copernicus-marine-products-and-services).
If you need to cite a specific product, use the following template:
Product Title. E.U. Copernicus Marine Service Information (CMEMS). Marine Data Store (MDS). DOI: 10.48670/moi-xxxxx (Accessed on DD-MMM-YYYY)
Replace the placeholders with the actual product title, DOI, and access date as described in the article.

07:35 PM | Huldar H: Great thanks. Now I do need one more thing.
The project I'm working on is written in rust and I plan to make a module (a.k.a crate, package or library) for the project. Is it okay with copernicusmarine if I make this package open source and freely available? I will of course allow copernicusmarine to take over the rust package if the Copernicus programme wants that

07:35 PM | Blu: Yes, you are permitted to create an open source Rust package that uses Copernicus Marine data. Our datasets and tools are intended to remain open and freely accessible, and there are no restrictions against building and sharing open source software that interacts with our data, as long as you comply with the relevant data licenses and citation requirements.
If you wish to offer Copernicus Marine the opportunity to take over maintenance of your Rust package in the future, you are welcome to do so. The Copernicus Marine Toolbox itself is open source and licensed under the European Union Public Licence (EUPL v1.2), which encourages open collaboration and sharing.
Just ensure you clearly state the license of your package and provide proper attribution to Copernicus Marine data as outlined in our citation guidelines.

07:35 PM | Blu: Is that what you were looking for?

07:36 PM | Huldar H: Great, can you send me a link to the copernicus marine toolbox source code?

07:36 PM | Blu: You can find the Copernicus Marine Toolbox source code on GitHub at the following link:
 https://github.com/mercator-ocean/copernicus-marine-toolbox (https://github.com/mercator-ocean/copernicus-marine-toolbox).
This repository contains the full codebase and is the official source for the Toolbox. If you need documentation or usage examples, you can also refer to the official documentation (https://toolbox-docs.marine.copernicus.eu/en/stable/).
