The short answer

Tuesday roasts mean Wednesday post pickup, which means most UK customers receive their coffee on Thursday or Friday — the same week it was roasted.

The longer answer

Coffee tastes best between 5 and 21 days off-roast. Roast Monday and the post-room queue means it's already day-2 before it ships. Roast Wednesday and the orders that came in over the weekend are now four days stale on our shelves. Tuesday hits the sweet spot.

We also use Mondays for green-bean cupping and equipment maintenance, which means the roast on Tuesday morning is always going onto a clean machine with calibrated profiles.

What this means for subscribers

If you're on the monthly subscription, your coffee leaves us on the Wednesday closest to your usual delivery date. That's why subscriptions don't have a "next-day" option — we'd rather wait three days to ship fresh than rush something stale to your door.
